Where do we first see the spirit of missions in Holy Scripture? What is surprising is that this universal concern for all people everywhere did not begin in the New Testament. Since God’s nature cannot change, a universal concern and spirit that seems abundantly apparent in the New Testament should be evident in the Old Testament as well. In fact, when one examines the Old Testament carefully, and looks at the overarching perspective of the Almighty and Universal Yahweh, the witness of a “spirit of missions” become clear.

The Serbian Orthodox Church had regarded itself as protector of Serbian national identity, but this role had been usurped by the state, especially under Slobodan Milosevic.
